The role of the Housing Officer will be to promote and participate in resident involvement activities by ensuring active and proactive work on tenant engagement and participation, and on community initiatives. The office is wholetime, permanent and pensionable. A panel will be formed to fill permanent and temporary vacancies. Persons employed will be required to work in any location within the South Dublin administrative area.

The duties will be such as will be assigned by the local authority from time to time and will include the duty of deputising for other officers of the local authority when required. The duties will also include such duties as may be assigned in relation to the area of any other local authority. The duties may include: 1. Developing and delivering Estate Management / Tenant Participation Strategies and dedicated Neighbourhood Plans with key performance outcomes. 2. To ensure that each new tenancy letting, and end of tenancy is completed in line with administrative and legal requirements including tenancy agreement sign ups and terminations. 3. Dealing with tenancy management such as adding joint tenants / succession of tenancy applications. 4. To provide advice and support to older tenants who require medical adaptions and supporting people who need to move home under the Council's Rightsizing Policy. 5. To assist the Housing Maintenance team by reporting and monitoring repairs and maintenance issues in communal areas within their designated neighbourhoods. 6. To support the Voids Team in achieving void turnaround targets by assisting with prevoid inspections for those vacating properties. 7. Tenant engagement about estate and landlord services (for example, communal areas, public realm, clean-up days), on issues that affect the estate / neighbourhood. 8. Working with residents to prevent anti-social behaviour and dealing with low level (Category C) tenancy enforcement such as neighbour disputes / noise nuisance. 9. Referral of serious anti-social behaviour cases to the Anti-Social Behaviour / Community Safety Team. 10.Investigation of Vacant Homes (Local Authority and Privately owned), in their geographical area. 11.Work in conjunction with the Community Development Team to improve the local communities in which social housing tenants live. 12.Operate from local estate offices, if necessary. 5 13.Avail of and operate all appropriate and necessary new technology that is developed and have a clear understanding of all Council IT systems. 14.Holders of the office should possess a full unendorsed Irish driving licence and will drive a motor car in the course of their duties, and for this purpose provide and maintain the car to the satisfaction of the local authority. 15.Any other duties as may be assigned by South Dublin County Council management.
