Job Title: Systems Engineer

As a key player in our Cloud Storage team, you will be at the forefront of developing, debugging, and maintaining the disaggregated storage software that underpins critical cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

\Tackle Complex Challenges: Tackle complex challenges in distributed systems to deliver reliable, scalable, and performant storage solutions.

\Collaborate with Teams: Collaborate closely with teams within ASE and across Apple to understand requirements and integrate solutions.

\Design Implement Test: Design, implement, test, and debug software components for our storage systems.

\Code Reviews: Write high-quality, maintainable code and actively participate in code reviews.

\System Documentation: Develop and review detailed design documentation for new features and system architectures.

\Deployment Monitoring: Participate in the qualification, deployment, and monitoring of software across large-scale production clusters.

\Performance Optimization: Benchmark, analyze, and optimize system performance, scalability, and resiliency.

Requirements:

\Systems Programming Skills: Strong systems programming skills and a deep understanding of operating system fundamentals (memory management, concurrency, I/O, networking).

\Qualifications: BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience, plus experience in system software development, OR an MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

\Concurrency Parallelism: Solid grasp of concurrency, parallelism, and distributed systems concepts (e.g., consensus, consistency models, failure modes).

\Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical challenges and solutions clearly within the team and to stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

\Distributed Storage Solutions: Hands-on experience with distributed storage solutions (e.g., Ceph, ScaleIO, GlusterFS, HDFS) is highly desirable.

\Kubernetes Experience: Experience developing and managing applications on Kubernetes; experience writing CSI plugins is a plus.

\Cloud Infrastructure: Familiarity with using or contributing to cloud infrastructure technologies (e.g., AWS S3/EBS, GCP Cloud Storage/Persistent Disk, OpenStack Swift/Cinder).

\Programming Languages: Proficiency in Go (Golang) applied to systems-level development.

\Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

\Quality Enthusiasm: A genuine enthusiasm for building high-quality, robust systems.
