Job Title: Programme Management Office Lead

 

This is a newly created role within the organisational operations department, offering an exciting opportunity to shape and continuously improve operational processes.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior stakeholders to support process development and enablement.

The role will be responsible for supporting strategic planning and oversight of all projects aligned with corporate objectives. It will also provide day-to-day support to teams, helping to enhance delivery capabilities across the organisation.

The projects supported by this role will be diverse, spanning operational improvements, technology enhancements, business transformation, and other key areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development, embedding, and ongoing operation of programme management processes.
  • Drive best practice in operational process management, fostering a culture of efficiency and collaboration through streamlined ways of working.
  • Derive and enable reporting of key metrics and KPIs to Senior Management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide effective oversight of projects/programmes to include reporting against cost, scope, change, time, risk, and quality metrics.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, fostering innovation and learning to enhance project delivery capabilities and outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with Senior Management, key stakeholders, and cross-functionally to drive project success and contribute to the organisation's overall strategic initiatives.
  • Provide regular and ad-hoc guidance and support to teams.
  • Develop and support risk/issue/project change management strategies.
  • Support the introduction of associated process management systems.
  • Provide structured and ad-hoc training/mentorship to stakeholders.
  • Comply with policies and procedures on equality and diversity.

Requirements:

Candidates must demonstrate they meet the eligibility and essential criteria in their application and at interview.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • A degree or equivalent professional qualification in a related discipline (e.g., business, engineering, or project management)
  • A minimum of five years' experience in a Project/Programme/PMO management role within a commercial, voluntary, or public sector environment
  • Recognised Project Management Qualification &/or Associate membership of a recognised Project Management professional body
  • Ability to travel to regional offices.

Essential Skills:

  • Proven experience of project management, including knowledge of project lifecycles, methodologies, and governance.
  • Experience of working with new or existing project management processes and procedures.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills combined with the ability to engage and influence at all levels.
  • Strong analytical skills to analyse, interpret, challenge, and present complex data to support decision-making.
  • Demonstrable leadership and negotiation skills, commercial awareness, and strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment and manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience of producing high-quality reports, presentations, and briefings for a senior audience.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of using project management software.
  • Awareness of considerations when working across multiple jurisdictions.
