Fire Safety Specialist

The role of a Fire Safety Specialist involves the installation and maintenance of firestopping systems to prevent the spread of fire in buildings. This requires technical expertise and attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

  1. Installation of Firestopping Systems: Apply firestop sealants, intumescent materials, and other fire-resistant products to seal penetrations and joints in fire-rated walls and floors.
  2. Device Installation: Install firestop devices such as firestop collars, sleeves, and mechanical firestopping systems.

Maintenance and Compliance

Document installed firestopping systems, including materials used and locations of installations. Maintain accurate records for compliance purposes.

Safety Protocols

Follow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) while working. Stay updated on the latest firestopping technologies, materials, and methods through training and professional development.

Qualifications and Skills

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Relevant knowledge of firestopping or fire protection is preferred. Previous experience in firestopping installation is highly desirable.

Physical Abilities

Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions. Physical stamina to lift heavy materials and perform manual labor for extended periods.

Key Requirements

  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for firestopping installation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and technical specifications.

Work Environment: Fire Safety Specialists typically work on construction sites, both indoors and outdoors, and may be exposed to various environmental conditions. Work Schedule: The work schedule may vary and could include evenings, weekends, and overtime, depending on project timelines and deadlines.
