Conference and Events Manager

About the Role:

  • We are seeking a highly skilled Conference and Events Manager to join our team.

About Us:

Lough Rea Hotel and Spa is one of the most highly recommended venues in Galway, boasting stunning views of Loughrea Lake and the Galway countryside. Our hotel facilities include 91 bedrooms, Shore Island Spa, ample free car parking on site, Lir Bar & Brasserie, Abbey Restaurant, along with a large conference suite and 6 breakout rooms catering for conferences up to 500 people.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. To manage the conference and events facilities on site, optimising availability and maximising client experience through effective planning and smooth delivery of services.
  2. To collaborate with sales teams to understand event requirements and preferences.
  3. To plan and coordinate all aspects of conferences, banquets, and events, including meeting space, catering, audio-visual equipment, and decor.
  4. To act as the main point of contact for clients throughout the execution phases of events.
  5. To handle queries/requests in a professional and proactive manner, delivering a faultless client experience.
  6. To obtain timely feedback to analyse the quality of delivery.
  7. To oversee and manage a team of banquet and event staff.
  8. To ensure staff are properly trained and capable of delivering high-quality service.
  9. To develop and implement SOPs for every aspect of the C&B department.
  10. To maximise revenue and profitability from all market segments.
  11. To effectively manage and coordinate conference/event enquiries, databases, reports, and site inspections.
  12. To ensure all client charges are correctly posted and accounted.
  13. To maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the department.
  14. To manage wage costs and staffing of the department in line with targets set out by senior management.
  15. To stay ahead of the wedding market trends and engage in new wedding additions.
  16. To continuously improve products and services offered by the C&B department.
  17. To work closely with sales teams to push wedding and event sales and maximise revenues from same.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must be results-driven and able to work independently and in a team.
  • Candidates should have previous supervisor experience in C&B/F&B.
