Head of Intermediary Channels

This role leads the development of GWP topline across the full range of brokers and affinity partners by strengthening existing and building new business partnerships. You will lead the performance of a team of high performing business development managers. You will lead the development and implementation of annual plans for each of the major partners and manage performance against them. Finally, you will manage internal relationships with the portfolio, pricing, marketing, operations, claims and underwriting teams so that they support you to achieve success

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a future proofed sales and distribution strategy that capitilises on surrent and future customer needs and trends
  • To grow long term profitable RSA business and achieve agreed sales targets through your personal relationship development skills and by leading a team of high quality account managers.
  • To develop the account manager team by driving specific training and development interventions to establish the capability and credibility needed to understand and influence partners while also supporting each manager’s wider personal and professional development.
  • Lead and motivate the team to fully utilise their capabilities to ensure delivery of the required standards of excellence in sales performance.
  • Manage the team to ensure that resources (people, finances, information, technology, etc.), processes and control frameworks are appropriate to the required standards of sales excellence and best practice, operating effectiveness and efficiency, and Group, legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage appropriate policies and the general budget for the department including broker and affinity commission
  • Drive the devevelopment and delivery of intermediary revenue streams; agreeing indivdual account plans and targets with account managers, ensuring quality pipelines of renewals and new business opportunities and taking action to address performance issues.
  • Work with internal department such as portfolio, marketing, operations, claims and underwriting colleagues to establish, faciliate and manage working relationships to ensure aligned and coordinated plans, marketing and sales messages and working practices.
  • Influence the achievement of specific account plans and identify business development opportunities by building and maintaining relationships with leaders in new and existing intermediary partners and external new business influencers.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years’ experience in senior roles in the Insurance Market
  • Detailed knowledge of Irish Insurance Market
  • Track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • The jobholder will be based in the Ireland but will be required to travel to other locations within the wider region.

Regulatory Requirements:

  • Regulatory requirements are subject to change, and the role holder is responsible for maintaining an up to date understanding of the Regulatory environment.
  • This role is subject to the Fitness and Probity Standards (“The Standards”) , issued under Section 50 of the Central Bank Reform Act 2010 and any subsequent amendments. The role holder must ensure they are fully aware of the Standards and in a position to fully always comply with them.
  • Experience of regulatory requirements for the business (e.g. Solvency II, Corporate Governance Requirements, Fitness & Probity Requirements, Consumer Protection Code, Minimum Competency Code, CPRA)
