Job Title: Renal Care Specialist

Location: Galway, Ireland

We are currently recruiting for a specialist to lead renal care services in a 12-month maternity contract leave role initially.

Role and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating certain aspects of haemodialysis service, including monthly bloods, analysis, and prescription specific to anaemia and renal mineral bone disease management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing patient care to ensure the highest standards are maintained using evidence-based practice and care planning approach.
  • Assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of monthly bloods, transplant work up, and follow-up, hepatitis B vaccinations, and monitoring to a haemodialysis patient grouping.
  • Offering information and specialist advice to patients on haemodialysis, selecting and developing appropriate literature and support networks that are available.
  • Being involved in infection control and health promotion of the haemodialysis population.
  • Commencing transplant work-up and evaluations, liaising with the medical team regarding having suitable patients placed on the transplant pool in a timely manner.
Skills and Qualifications Required

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A qualification to degree level in Nursing and registered with NMBI.
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Renal Nursing.
  • Strong planning, organisation, and work prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent relationship and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong administrative and IT skills.
