The role of the Business Development Specialist will involve creating and maintaining a profitable and sustainable business unit in the Pharmaceutical ingredients division in Ireland. This includes developing long-term business relationships with key customers, creating unique sales propositions, and identifying new opportunities to grow the business.

In this position, you will work closely with internal teams to identify and capitalize on new opportunities to grow our business unit. You will also be responsible for driving a minimum £500k gross margin for the business unit. Additionally, you will manage our client's existing accounts portfolio and establish strong, long-term client relationships.

Key responsibilities include customer sales, manufacturer relationships, and training. In the area of customer sales, you will develop c50 key accounts, build an opportunity bank of between 100 – 200 opportunities, create 30 – 50 active sales projects, and drive a minimum £500k gross margin for the business unit. In manufacturer relationships, you will develop relationships with suppliers of all key product groups, obtain marketing information, ensure adequate stock, and communicate with supplier partners.

Requirements:
  • A BSc/PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry is essential for this role.
  • 3+ years of Chemical Sales experience required at Business Manager level
  • Knowledge of the Irish pharmaceutical pipeline, specifically in APIs, excipients, drug delivery systems, and formulation markets
  • Solid sales experience in a B2B environment
  • Proven experience as a Business Manager/Account Manager in the Chemical Distribution Industry
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Business acumen to attract and develop new supplier partners
  • Experience of using CRM software and MS Office
